The Power of Ginger!
Rich in vitamins and minerals and highly versatile, ginger is one of human history’s most ancient and well-travelled cultivations – from India to the Roman Empire, across Ming Dynasty China and into Africa via 14th century Arabia.
With more than 10% crushed root ginger, Zinziber™ is the ultimate in ginger drinks. It is made using fresh, raw ginger and is not filtered to ensure that the curative health benefits of the rhizome are not lost.
For thousands of years, root ginger has been boiled, pulped, stewed and chewed to improve our wellbeing.
Our original recipe stems from the Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa, where the drink is known as GNAMAKOUDJI, meaning “spicy water”. It is traditionally prepared in the kitchen for celebrations with family and friends but it can often be found on street corners being sold by local women as a thirst-quenching tonic, or being drunk by grooms on the morning of the wedding to boost virility.
To stay as true as possible to the original recipe, we start at the root – the fieriest, freshest root ginger from the Côte d’Ivoire to be precise – and unlike other drinks, we don’t use extracts, additives or half measures.
After 8-10 months, our ginger is mature enough to be harvested from the earth. After careful cleaning, the roots are washed in fresh water before being diced. We then crush the ginger to extract as much fresh juice as possible. Once it is crushed, the root ginger juice is infused in spring water for several hours before being blended with pure fruit juice and spices. Finally, we lock in all the nutrients through a gentle pasteurisation process, and insist on leaving our root ginger unfiltered as it is filled in the bottle. Then it is capped, packed and ready for you to enjoy!
Our process is designed so that you can reap all the natural benefits of the root – to find out more about the benefits of ginger, take a look at The Power of Ginger.

Danielle DROGBA Founder of Zinziber™ Drinks
“When we were little, my mother used to make us her traditional fresh ginger drink when we visited her in the Côte d’Ivoire. I remember watching her slowly pulp the juice from the fresh ginger root, and mix it together with lots of spices. And when it was ready, there was nothing like it – nothing more deeply refreshing or more revitalising.
And so it has proved. I’ve looked and looked but haven’t find anything that comes close to that drink or the unique experience it offers. Everything else tasted flat, was packed with sugar, full of artificial additives and preservatives or used root ginger extracts or flavourings, not the real thing.
So a few years ago, I decided to share my love for ginger at a dinner party. I prepared the aromatic drink for my friends and they absolutely loved it and kept asking for more. This inspired me to create a version which everyone could enjoy. Working from that original recipe, I got to work in the kitchen.
It took me almost two years of trial and error to get to the drink that you are enjoying today. I spoke to top mixologists to ensure that the final recipe could be used to bring cocktails to life. I spoke to nutritionists and food scientists to make sure I was using the right ingredients and in the right quantities. I wanted to make sure I could create something that does your body good, as well as taste great.
Hope you enjoy!”
